A day in the life of a Magical Maths franchisee...
For anyone enquiring into a franchise, it can be tough to know what is actually entailed in the day-to-day of the business. I thought it'd be useful get one of our franchisees to talk you through a typical day, and I managed to twist the arm of Veronica Boys, our franchisee for Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight, to do just that!
As one of Magical Maths’ newest franchisees Veronica knows what it takes to get off to a flying start as a Magical Maths franchisee. She’s achieved some great bookings in her first few weeks bringing fun to learning maths at primary level.
8:00am I start work and am straight on the phones, ringing a few schools. I do this whilst still wearing my pyjamas – one of the bonuses of being able to work from home each day! I like to ring schools at this time because teachers are very busy people, and it’s most effective to catch them before they start their teaching day. A few calls today leads to some after-school club bookings, as well as a face-to-face meeting to pitch my business to a local head teacher. Fantastic results! 9:00am I finally get changed out of my pyjamas before checking my calendar to make sure the day is planned properly. I email some customers as well as my staff. Business is multiplying
10:00am I contact a few schools that are running Magical Maths sessions soon. We review the finer details and ensure they are set for our arrival. I then do preparation for upcoming clubs, such as scheduling my staff timetables.
11:00am It’s assembly time – an extremely fun and rewarding part of running this franchise. Today I visited St Blaziers primary on the Isle of Wight, and it resulted in several hundred children getting extremely excited about their upcoming club!
12:00pm I arrive home and manage to ring a few more schools whilst they’re on their lunch break. I give myself a bit of time for a break and to eat.
2:50pm I’m off to visit a few schools to make sure our clubs are running exceptionally well. I ensure I speak to parents and teachers to get their views on what we’re doing.
4:00pm I arrive home and take a short break. I then do some research on local schools to help me market to them as effectively as possible in the near future.
4:45pm - 6:00pm I interview new potential staff members to strengthen my team. For this, I use the high-quality interview scripts given to me by head office, which makes the process very simple. I also use the online portal – included in the initial franchise fee – for doing criminal record checks, which ensures my staff are of the highest quality.
6:30pm I browse our equipment portal online and order some replacement stock to help prepare for upcoming clubs.
7:00pm I stop for the evening, have a glass of wine and reflect on another cracking day as a Magical Maths franchisee.
